Maria Droste Counseling Center Web Redesign

This was an amazing project I got to be apart of, working with a team where we designed Maria Droste Counseling Center’s website. This process required making drawn graphics, creating icons needed for the site, researching the previous site to understand everything that will need to be transferred over. As well as being able to work with a web development team on the user experience and design methods to highlight various important mental health services. I worked a lot of the design aspects through Figma on wire framing the design, and providing various mockups to be presented and further refined through weekly meetings.

Challenge was to create a complete web redesign for Maria Droste Counseling Center a non profit mental health and therapy organization. This was a team effort, that required moving transferring important information and improving upon the previous site. Maria Droste provides a large number of services and requires presenting a large number of important information.

For this project I had the opportunity to work alongside other designers, as well as company director’s and web developers. The solution was working as a team on how work load was divided, followed up with weekly meetings on how everyone’s work can be combined together in an effective manner. With the overall UI/UX of the website interface on how everything should be organized, with how many different pages should exist and how the user should navigate through the site. With my design work through Figma on how to properly design each page as well as establishing brand standards for a complete professional look of the overall site. I wanted the design to utilize a decent amount of imagery to help improve the user experience by taking in information in reasonable chunks. This will also accomplish the goals of maintaining user attention, and providing a professional aesthetic, as the topic of mental health is a very serious and personally important topic. With the use of imagery, I also wanted to break each important section primarily on the home page with different colored sections. The overall color scheme was inspired and utilized from their main logo for a consistent design standard that also matches their other marketing initiative like their annual golf event.
